The authors report informations about their studies in Morada Nova, Ceará, where 69 locaties were searched for triatomine bugs; 1290 bugs were found, 33.3% of them infected with T. cruzi. T. brasiliensis was the most frequent species (65.5%); 34.3% ofthe bugs belonged to T. pseudomaculata species, considered of little importance in the transmission of Chaga's disease in the region; only 2 specimens of P. megistus were captured.
