In a survey by Montenegro skin-test that covered 402 people of the population of Praia Vermelha, the authors observed a predominance of 11,94% positive cases; there was no differences of any statistic significance between sex and age levels. That survey has also shown that the risk of acquiring the infection is 3 times greater in the fishermen's population that moves away from the island for long periods of time; it has also shown that the dewellers ofhouses where a human case of the disease has occured are exposed to a risk 8 times greater of catching the disease.
