The author presents a review of the present status of the possibilities to control Schisosomiasis in Brazil. Based on passed experiences on the matter in Brazil and in other countries, the description of a pilot project is given, aiming to start a new scale control program, adequately organized with a view to solve problems of a medical - social nature, not only favouring the agricultural development of the country, but also avoiding the spread of foci to non endemic areas. The basic purpose of the project is, of course, the interruption of transmission of the disease, utilizing the various methods for that, either alone or in combination, according to the various epidemiological conditions.
