Oncocercose: primeiro caso autóctone da Região Centro-Oeste do Brasil

The first autochthonous case of onchocerciasis in the West Central region of Brazil is described. Based on epidemiological data it is suspected that the infection has been acquired by thepatient in Minaçu, State of Goiás, where gravei washers comingfrom the Surucucus Mountain Range, in the Federal Territory of Roraima, are now working. The finding of the present case indicates the existence of a new focus of onchocerciasis in Brazil.
