O comportam en to da pressão arterial na esquistossomose hepática e outras hepatopatias

Studying 911 patients hospitalized for the treatment of unselected cases of intertal pathology, the authors observed 26,8% of hypertensive cases and 34,7% of patients with liver disease, from which 17,7% showed schistosomal liver involvement. The analysis resulted on selecting six cases, where the coexistence of hypertension and liver disease was noticed. Another group of nine cases was found whose necropsy revealed liver pathology and the so called "essential hypertension kidney", not disclosed by clinicai examination. The comparison of means showed a significant difference suggesting a higher blood pressure among patients without liver disease.
