Abstract
Introduction
Are the political arenas within a political party and its youth wing perceived in different ways by young party members? This article problematizes the structural causes of the weakening of partisan membership to verify the presence of a transformational trend in the intra-party relations of domination and management.
Materials and methods
Twenty-two interviews were conducted with youth leaders from the Democratas party. The questionnaire was developed through GoogleDocs. His address was shared in a group on the Facebook social network aimed at municipal, state and National Youth Democratas leaders.
Results
There is a differentiated perception between the political arenas in the party and in its young wing. Although there is convergence, there is a notably more modern, bureaucratic-rational pattern in the youth sphere.
Discussion
This analysis is carried out bringing concepts of the Public Administration to the study of political parties. Managerial and societal elements appear in a complementary way, instead of conflicting as in the Public Administration literature. Finally, we suggest the hypothesis of an intra-party transformation process in relation to power and management relations.
