Brazilian movies in the Estado Novo: dialogues with Italy, Germany and USSR

This article analyses the relation between Brazilian movie producers and the State in the creation of agencies for incentive and protection of Brazilian cinema and in the elaboration of cultural projects aiming to use movies as an instrument of education and propaganda during the "Estado Novo" (1937-1945).
