This work analyses the discourse on the urban environment produced by Curitiba's Municipal Prefecture between 1960 and 2000. Contrary to official discourse, which presents environmental works as a result of a technical reflection and a planned action, it is shown how, in Curitiba, natural factors and technical solutions to environmental problems were combined in a punctual and non-premeditated way.
