A research project into knowledge, attitudes and perception regarding human intestinal parasitic helminths was carried out in Brazil. The study was conducted by means of interviews with parents of scholers during three months (November and December/1984 and January/1985). The data collected included 88 interviewed. The results obtained showed that the population has an appropriate codefication for the identification of parasitic helminths, and accumulated knowledge concerning clinical aspects of the disease. Theses results are useful for planning control programmes of intestinal parasites, based on community participation. Beside that they are also important as useful insights as a baseline for health education programmes.
