Bacterial inhibitors in B-type milk sold in the city S. Paulo (Brazil)

B-type milk sold in the city of S. Paulo, Brazil, was examined for bacterial inhibitors, such as penicilin, hydrogen peroxide, formaldehyde and chlorine. Samples were taken from the four brands of greatest consumption in the period from June 14th, 1982 throught March 20th, 1933. The prevalence of bacterial inhibitors was high (4.70%). The incidence of penicillin residues and unidentified inhibitors was 0.7% and 3.40% respectively. The proportion of samples containing hydrogen peroxide and formadehyde was low and chloride was absent from all.
