METHODOLOGICAL CHOICES TO PRODUCE COLLABORATIVE AND COMPARATIVE RESEARCH: THE CASE OF “WHY WE POST”

Abstract

Anthropologists generally work alone for most of their research projects, until the analysis is ready for publication or to be presented at academic events. The nine researchers from the “Why we post” project, coordinated by the English anthropologist Daniel Miller, collaborated and cooperated from the moment the theme of the study was defined, and continued to interact in a coordinated way throughout the process. The purpose of this article is to describe how this methodological experiment took place and to examine the advantages and disadvantages of the choices that guided the joint work of the nine anthropologists who worked on the team between 2012 and 2017.
