Abstract

Inspired by Zelizer’s sociology, this paper seeks to understand how the relationship between money and children is morally established by financial education in Brazil, considering the growth of digital platforms and apps, revealing the constitution of a coercive repertoire that directs children’s subjectivities towards an ideal model of financial education transmitted by virtual interactive activities. Thus, the preliminary evidence of this research indicates that the knowledges and content are not just informative, but it works as a moral training tool, promoting financial literacy and engaging children as moral mediators, in which their performance is recorded in ordinal form, shape the path towards becoming a financially responsible adult. In this way, children become managers of themselves and their future, which involves overcoming individual deficiencies and taking emotional self-control, that means, an intense relational work.
