Bibliographic lineaments about Tropicália

Abstract

The literature on tropicalism in the social sciences is numerous. In view of this, in the bibliographic balance we have here, we intend to propose the construction of two ideal types from which the writings on Tropicália can be organized and suggest that such studies indicate the participation of artists from different fields, however they do not point out in greater depth what unites them, settling preferentially on musical productions. In the end, we suggest that this broad literature can be organized from a double ideal typology, namely: a current that interprets Tropicália in a critical and negative key, pointing to its mercantile integration and its politically conformist character; and an interpretive line that analyzes Tropicalism as having a critical and explanatory potential in the face of the culture and relations of domination internal and external to Brazil.
