Social representations of public school students about people living with HIV/Aids

ABSTRACT

The study aimed to analyze the social representations of young people and adults about their experiences facing the person with HIV/AIDS. It is a descriptive, exploratory study with qualitative approach, developed with 59 students of the Youth and Adult Education Program, enrolled in two schools in the city of Recife. We use the technique of interviews. Data were analyzed with the support of software Alceste 4.5. It is concluded that there is a need to integrate issues of social awareness about AIDS. We emphasize the importance of the nurse as a facilitator in helping to demystify feelings and attitudes towards people with HIV.
