ABSTRACT
An exploratory research was undertaken through the technical procedure of literature review and data analysis from data extracted from the Ministry of Health and Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) websites. The goal is to analyze the assistance coverage in intensive care for major geographical regions, from concepts of the Intervention Bioethics. It was possible to estimate the need for ICU beds by the 1101 Ordinance of the Ministry of Health, which corresponds to 4-10% of total hospital beds. It was identified that the North and Northeast Regions, the most vulnerable, have the worst coverage in intensive care in the country. In this context of politics and health, the Intervention Bioethics emerges with relevance, promoting the discourse in favor of the vulnerable.
