School of Harm Reduction: educational process experience from the perspective of collective health

ABSTRACT

The objectives of this work are: to report the educational process of the School of Harm Reduction; evaluate the appropriation of concepts and point out ways to strengthen innovative practices in the field of drugs. We considered the fundaments of collective health that explain drug phenomenon as implied in the wider sphere of the determinations of the social formation, and the concepts of emancipatory harm reduction and historical-critical e ducation. Emancipatory workshops were held, and supervison of the practices developed by health workers. Experience shows that: the appropriation of the concepts discussed reflects in the practices developed; spaces for critical reflection are essential to strengthening workers and that involvement of primary care is strategic for building intersectoral work.
