Nursing care and the focus on patient safety in the Brazilian scenario

ABSTRACT

The objective of this study was to analyze the contribution of nursing to patient safety in Brazil. The research method applied the integrative literature review. Databases searched were BDENF, Lilacs, Medline, SciELO and PubMed, by means of the descriptors 'patient safety', 'nursing care' and 'Brazil'. Articles assessed refer to the period 2009-2014, available in Portuguese, English and Spanish. At the end, fifteen articles were selected. The publications evince the existence of nursing positive actions on patient safety. Concluding, the research reflects on the importance of error identification and use of tools to improve the safety culture in Brazilian institutions.
