ABSTRACT
Even though health in Brazil is a constitutional right it is difficult for the homeless population to access health services. These difftculties can include the lack of documents or even life conditions. This article presents a qualitative analysis of the lack of health conditions that make Young and Homeless ‘Garbage Diggers’ (YHGD) search for the Brazilian Public Health System (SUS) in the Federal District Data were collected on in-depth interviews and systematic observation. The results showed that the YHGD access SUS health services only for emergencies. Assessing the health system structure in the country the services provided are limited to teaching good hygiene practices, aiming only the basic health maintenance in the country’s capital.
