Drug policies in Argentina: politics of exclusion and suffering

The aim of this paper is to describe the main drug policies in Argentina, establishing connections between them, the processes of social stigma and drug dependent patients’ accessibility to health services. For this purpose, a bibliographical and documentary review was conducted. Certain policies produce operations that are interwoven in the particularities of people’s everyday life. Thus, policies orientations configure a fundamental determinant in patients’ trajectory in the health system. A central topic on which to advance relates to the exclusion in health and the suffering produced by the processes of stereotyping, along with the systematic rights violation of drug dependent patients.
