Body changes as aesthetic and identity phenomenon among female university students

This study is a qualitative research that analyzes the perceptions, attitudes, behaviors and sense of identity underlying the narratives of female university students submitted to cosmetic surgery so to meet the standards of beauty prevalent in current society. There has been an effort of belonging and identification to a social grouping, composed of people who hold or are striving to keep the body under ideal beauty prevailing standards. The desire for freedom that characterized the feminine ideal of emancipation, which underpinned feminist movements, succumbed to the dictatorship of a body aesthetics which opposes strongly to obesity and aging.
