The work presents preliminary results obtained by studies that are developing in the municipality of Uberlândia - MG, with the objective of determining the erosive potential of the soil by water infiltration tests in situ with the use of a double cylinder infiltrometer. A delimited area was sought which constituted a certain lithological diversity, of landform, of types of unconsolidated materials, state of use and soil erosion. Sampling of unconsolidated materials were defined by criteria based on texture, type, nature and landform, resulting in the identification of 11 surface units. An analysis of the combined information from the infiltration tests, laboratory and map of unconsolidated materials makes it possible to affirm that there is good correlation between water infiltration and soil erosion.
