Municipal public revenues and the functionality of spatial integration in metropolitan environments

Metropolitan environments are particular in the sense that, in addition to the amount of financial revenues generated by municipal administrations, capital flow, labour, and the offer of services outside municipal boundaries influence the municipal public budget. This principle is applicable both to state and federal constitutional transfers and to tax revenues. Discussing this issue, as well as the spatialization of secondary data in municipal and metropolitan contexts, exposes the need to examine metropolitan management from the standpoint of dispersion patterns of municipal public revenues.
