Abstract
In this work, Isabelle Stengers once more resorts to the contributions of Alfred North Whitehead’s processual philosophy to discuss knowledge production in modernity, a prominent subject in the vast and seldom translated into Portuguese work of the Belgian philosopher. In dialogue with contemporary scholars, such as Anna Tsing, Bruno Latour and Donna Haraway,Civiliser la modernité? invites us to ponder what can the humanities know in the face of the uncertainties of our time. This review seeks to explore above all the potential contributions of this work for the social sciences, articulating the philosophical discussion and methodological developments.
