Abstract
Javier Auyero is the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long Professor in Latin American Sociology at the University of Texas at Austin. His research interests include urban ethnography, poverty, urban marginality and social inequality, political sociology, collective action and violence. In this interview, he talks about his academic career and suggests directions for a more collaborative and communicative sociological practice.
