Inoculation methods study to evaluation soybean cultivars to Fusarium tucumaniae

The reaction of resistant soybean cultivars IAS-5, FT-Cometa, CAC-1, Monarca and MG/BR 46 (Conquista) and the susceptible cultivars FT-Estrela and FT-Cristalina, to F. tucumaniae were evaluated. Soybean seedlings were inoculated by the grain sorghum method; and detached leaves were inoculated by the oat grain method. Disease severity was weekly evaluated using a degree scale for the symptoms observed in the aerial, as well as in the root system, of the seedlings. The percentage of dead seedlings also was evaluated. Plant height, length of the internal, and external lesions in the culm, were examined. The relation of the cultivars in growing order of percentage of dead plants was CAC-1(47%), Monarca(60%), MG/BR 46 (Conquista)(61%), IAS-5(64%), FT-Cristalina(84%), FTCometa( 86%) and FT-Estrela(90%). Infection of detached leaves by the pathogen in the tissues near to the petiole was observed. However this method was unable to discriminate soybean cultivar for resistance to SDS, because of the high level of premature leaf death.

sudden death sindrome (SDS); Fusarium solani (Mart.) Sacc. f. sp; glycines K. W. Roy; Glycine max (L.) Merrill
