The Unified Municipal Survey - PMU - carried out by Fundação Seade since 1992, provides a large body of information regarding municipal governance, making possible an analysis of all of São Paulo State's municipalities. The article presents the PMU's principal characteristics and develops a theme using statistics built from that data base.
