The achievement of formal rights by women is diluted by the persistence of discriminatory practices both in the public and private spheres. Information is one of the essential elements towards full social participation and is a tool in the formulation of public policy. This text discusses a system of information on the state of women in São Paulo State and permits a diagnosis of the diverse processes underway in gender relations.
