Neither saint nor sinner: new outlooks, old dichotomies in the reification of women

Abstract:

We analyze the historical movement of female domination in capitalism, understanding that the social relations of sex and gender are responsible for the high rates of violence against women, one of the multiple expressions of the social question. The reification of the female body reinforced by the media is accompanied by the idea of sexual freedom, a way of approaching the woman to her body and sexuality, but which tends to be used as a reaffirmation of the female body as an object to be consumed.
