Abstract:
The article analyzes in accuracies and conceptual dilemmas in the use of family centrality as one of the structuring axes of social assistance policy and the Brazilian System of Social Assistance. Through bibliographic and documentary analysis, it points out tensions and contradictions related to the conceptual vagueness of the term. The analysis highlights the contradictory potential of its use in social work with families, which can contribute both to guaranteeing rights and blaming users for their living conditions.
