This article reports the experience of a professional educational course for municipal council members, developed in cities of the belonging to the Pole of Permanent Health Education in the West of Santa Catarina, Brazil, using the problematizing approach. The objective of the courses was to empower the performance of the council members in the management of public policies in their cities, making propositive critical intervention possible, and promoting the exchange of experiences and articulation between different actors engaged in the construction of the public policies of the region. We highlight as results the knowledge exchange which occurred, as well as experiences and the improvement of information access, as well as other tools for situational analysis and for decision making. The challenge to fortify the engagement of the actors with the permanent education process itself still remains, for which the creation of a new reference space - management and pedagogic - with the access of resources and information would be necessary.
