A pedagogical practice through social-environmental rationalities: a theoretical essay on nursing formal education

The aim of this text is to produce a theoretical and reflective trial about inserting a permanent socio-environmental pedagogical practice to be developed in formal nursing training, in view of its relevance to the construction of health practices consistent with the social and environmental needs of individuals and groups. We propose theoretical bibliography concerning considerations involving between the health/environment relationship, followed by the formal education process in health care, and the nursing curriculum change. We also provide a reflection about the permanent socio-environmental pedagogical practice in nursing education. As a result, environmental rationality may constitute as a pedagogical instrument for a pedagogical practice that makes it possible to reorient health care and nursing actions, as well as to articulate the teaching and learning processes with environmental issues, seeking to establish permanent links with the aim of overcoming traditional perspectives to achieve a unique system of education: critical socio-reflexive.
