This study intends, with its theoretical-reflective approach towards hospital infection, to awake within health care workers the constant need for preventive action and the control of hospital infection to be incorporated into their daily operations, in order to reduce the levels of hospital infection in Brasil. Brasil´s levels of hospital infection are above the world average. So that the workers might adhere to preventive action and control of hospital infection might occur, the educational process of the worker must become part of the organization of work in health care. It is through the production and continuous reproduction of knowledge and their application in daily operations that individual and collective adherence of the workers occurs, conducing an improvement in the quality of life of the client/patients, through the reduction of the incidence and gravity of infections
