Open-access Parents orientation: to share knowledge about development and childrearing practices as an intervention procedure

Parents, teachers and educators are facing difficulties in educating children and adolescents, when they try to teach them, pass, and transmit the patterns, values and conduct rules that could guarantee their insertion and social participation in the group, and at the same time the full development of their capabilities. This paper intends to present and discuss one proposition of family orientation. It is based on the work developed with groups of middle-class mothers and individual orientation of parents in the middle and popular classes. They participated in university extension projects, suffered systematization, and were realized and evaluated as research projects. This program's background are life span developmental principles and childrearing practice dimensions, like the values thus attached, with the aim of sharing the knowledge formulated at the university with families.
