Taking care of the caregiver: perceptions and conceptions of nursing AIDS concerning care for oneself

This study aimed to identify perceptions and conceptions of nursing auxiliaries of the Hospital of Support of Brasilia, concerning care for oneself. This is a qualitative study, supported by the theoretical reference of Jean Watson’s transpersonal care. The data was collected through the application of instruments, with closed and open questions, as well as the accomplishment of playful-creative workshops, with the reading of the work "Abaporu", by Tarsila do Amaral. From the continuous analysis of the data, categories of meanings that point out the results emerged: they understand that the body is seen beyond the five senses; they emphasize the existence of the body-mind-nature connection; they recognize the divine right of receiving care; and they make the connection between care with his/her fullness to be and to live in the world. This study contributes to the conscientiousness of the importance of caring for oneseld in order to be able to care for others as an internalization process, in constant transformation.
