"The razor doesn't cut silk": Esthetic and Performance in Malandro's Costume

The article addresses the malandro's image and its analytical focus refers to his costume and corporal performances. These images are spread throughout in the memory books, in the media, in the lyrics, in the cinema, in the literature, lastly, in the malandro's discourse and in the discourse about the malandro, converging on the construction of the esthetic representation of a character who has his costume as one of the main devices of symbolic efficacy of his social identity.
