Abstract:
The article aims to contribute to the debate around the tension present in historical museums with themes related to the Second World War between celebratory narratives of certain facts and characters (memory) and critical narratives specific to the nature of historical research. Such tension appears in both European and North American museums. As an outcome of this discussion, it also addresses the conflicts around the creation of historical museums dedicated to subjects such as fascism, Nazism, collaboration, in Europe.
