Resume:
The article studies the spread of epidemics that occurred during the construction of the Baturite Railroad, in Ceara (especially the smallpox epidemic in 1878-1979 and 1915-1916), to understand the extent to which the agglomeration of people in the camps on the fronts of work, the spread of the plague, together with the droughts, were a tragedy for thousands of poor peasants. And to what extent railroad workers experienced fear and the epidemic itself in this period.
