This article examines the construction of the image of peacemaker hero Antônio de Albuquerque, governor of the captaincy of Rio de Janeiro and then the captaincy of São Paulo and Minas do Ouro, considered responsible for the pacification of the War of Emboabas. Described by Cláudio Manuel da Costa as a hero endowed with virtues like courage and wisdom, such image would then spread to historical studies, influencing the narratives on the War of Emboabas in particular, and the Albuquerque administration in general.
