A set of documents consists on several requests held by the slaves in Buenos Aires in the last decades of the colonial period allows us to bring the diversity of experiences of captives and slaves to found different ways to gain autonomy and to get more tolerable forms of slavery in a place where boundaries and definitions of "castas" were relatively flexible. Another set of documents shows us the slave owners trying to retain or recover their captives, retain your earnings or get some advantage of the new conditions and skills of their slaves. The place in that which happened was Buenos Aires and in this city the home and the streets where together places of influence over the slaves. But served for the lords to "drop" the captive slaves to "seek his owns life".

Slavery; Buenos Aires; artisans; money-earning slave; negotiation/legislation
