Abstract:
This work brings a reflection on the use of animated images to represent political memories related to the Brazilian civil-military dictatorship (1964-1985). Therefore, three Brazilian animated films were analyzed: the animated documentary shorts Torre (Nádia Mangolini, 2017) and Cadê Heleny? (Esther Vital, 2022) and the fictional feature Meu tio José (Ducca Rios, 2021). Produced entirely with animated images, these films are connected with contemporary ways of approaching reality and historical events.
