Preservation of archival records: Performance of self-adhesive sheets on textual documents

Abstract

Studies have contributed to the definition of important guidelines on the file record keeping and in particular preventive conservation fostering discussion and the consolidation of policies that seek to assist in the preservation of collections. In this perspective the present research, which is a work in partnership between the Institute of Humanities and information - Archivology course, and the School of Chemistry and Food, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande, aims to evaluate possible actions deterioration caused by the use of self-adhesive sheets in textual paper documents, to contribute to discussions and studies on the theme of conservation and preservation of collections. The methodology for the development of this work has been divided into steps that were: the sample selection and research on the emergence of adhesive plates, review the theoretical framework, analysis of data collected slant electron microscopy technique and subsequent dissemination of research results.
