Terminological research and machine translation: towards an optimal use of Reverso Context software

Abstract

Nowadays technology plays a major role in translators’ professional life. Machine translation for example allows rapidity and ensures functionality and reliability. The present paper is an attempt to study terminological research, and errors in translations generated by Reverso Context software. It will illustrate through an example-based analysis not the machine weaknesses but the differences that exist among students’ translations at the department of translation of Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University in Saudi Arabia, in order to check how the software has dealt with the identified problems. Knowing that Machine Translation is yet to be reliable, this work also intends to explore automatable treatments that enable translators to overcome syntactical, morphological and semantic issues.
