IMAGE AND WRITING IN (IN)COHERENCE TEXTUAL CONSTRUCTION: EPISODES OF WRITING IN ELEMENTERY SCHOOL

ABSTRACT

The current paper has an aim to analyze the construction of textual coherence, focusing on the relationship between writing and image in three productions of students from the 5th year of elementary school, originating from a public school in Itaporã-MS. The selected data show that, although the concept of textual coherence is familiar to most teachers, to understand the analyzed subjects’ writing process is necessary for mother-language teachers direct their look, used to privilege both acquisition of language’s ortography and normativism grammatical tradition, to develop other linguistic skills associated with literacies practices. The analysis suggests that the concept of coherence in writing acquisition processes will be better understood if considered from these practices, shifting it from the unique field of Textual Linguistics.
