ABSTRACT
This paper presents a commented translation of “A discourse on the system and the life of Vico” and its prologue, both authored by Jules Michelet (1798-1874). These texts introduce and present the work of Giambatistta Vico (1668-1744), particularly his New Science, which Michelet translated and published in 1827 and 1835.
