Anthropocene and Present Futures: Between Climatic Regime and Potential Regimes of Historicity

ABSTRACT

The aim of this article is to reflect on the relationship between the Anthropocene and potential “regimes of historicity” that emerge in the present. It discusses the possible appointment of an “anthropocenic regime of historicity,” questioning its heuristic relevance, as well as its political implications. Then, briefly and broadly, this article presents a possible reading tool for mapping the potential regimes of historicity that are emerging in the present, investigating their elaboration, as well as how they relate, interact, coexist, and compete with one another in an effort to assert new forms of temporalization in the face of the new climate regime.
