Abstract:
This is the inedited translation of a chapter written by Theodor W. Adorno in 1948 that would integrate the book “The Authoritarian Personality”, published in 1950, but which was not included in the work. In this chapter, Adorno intends to outline in more precise terms the concept of “anthropology” of the authoritarian type exposed in the work. The author describes it very precisely: not being a psychological, nor a sociological approach, not even existential and religious, the anthropology of the authoritarian portrayed here denotes part of the hegemonic formation of individuals under the influence of administered capitalism. The translation is preceded by an introductory text (authored by the translator) that presents and contextualizes the translated chapter and relates it to the original book published in 1950.
