Discursos Duplos (Dissoi Logoi), Tradução Anotada

Abstract:

This article is a translation, followed by notes, of the anonymous Sophist treatise from the 4th century b.c., Dissoi Logoi (Twofold Arguments). The introduction provides basic information about text transmission, authorship, and date of composition, as well as a brief discussion of the work's content. Important passages and concepts are analyzed in the notes to the translation. In addition, questions about the work and its interrelations with other works are discussed, and a reading of the text is developed. The treatise was transmitted in an incomplete form and contains nine small chapters on the central themes of the Sophist movement. It can be considered an example of the rhetorical techniques taught by those thinkers.
