The crisis of science as a crisis of happiness: Ethics and generativity in E. Husserl

Abstract:

The article seeks to establish if the crisis, diagnosed by Husserl, is an obstacle to happiness. Through this, we show connections between ethics and generativity that have been barely investigated by specialized literature. We begin by exposing Husserl’s theory of happiness, in order to use it as a theoretical framework for the subsequent argumentation. We continue by exposing the concept of crisis in Husserl as one of a generative nature, showing how it has practical consequences that reduce the possibility of individuals to achieve autonomy and happiness. We conclude by exposing the way in which Husserl has conceived that phenomenology participates in the resolution of the crisis.
