A line of the Marxist tradition adopts as an affiliation criterion to it the fidelity to the methodology of Marx. He, however, never wrote anything similar to a treaty on the method. The question of the method became thus a point of disagreement. Here are examined, through confrontation, the methodological expositions of Friedrich Engels and Georg Lukács, adopting as a line their conceptions on nature and history, theory and practice, as well as their evaluations about the relationship between Marx and Hegel.
