At the end of this month, the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (SBC) will be once again present at one of the most important world forums of the specialty: the congress of the American College of Cardiology (ACC). And, for the second consecutive time, we are proud to say, we were invited to participate in a joint session.

With the theme "The impact of cardiovascular diseases in Brazil and the Unites States and what is being planned in each of the countries to fight the disease", the joint symposium will have presentations by Protásio da Luz, Eric R. Bates, Luiz A. Mattos William E. Boden and Antonio Carlos Palandri Chagas, with the scientific director of the i2summit 2009 ACC, David R. Holmes, presiding the session.

The event is programmed to take place on March 30th, 2009 at 12:15 PM. This year, the 2009 ACC 58th Annual Scientific Session will be held in Orlando, in the state of Florida. The initiative is the aftermath of the very successful symposium held in 2008, which was praised by the presidents of ACC, James T. Dove and of the scientific committee of the event, Mark E. Shelton.

The results of the participation of the Brazilian professionals was so positive that 15 similar symposia have been programmed for this year in several countries, so that the North Americans can have a better knowledge of the problems and the researches carried out in the other regions.

This integration will also result in the coming of ACC specialists to Brazil for the 64th Brazilian Congress of Cardiology, as it happened in the former version of the event. And, more important than the sessions themselves, the integration will stimulate the constant collaboration between Brazilian and North American professionals, with the consequent strengthening of the specialty in both countries.

Moreover, regarding the promotion of quality continued education, the Congress Executive and Scientific Committee, at its first meeting of the year, discussed and approved around 80% of the suggestions received from the SBC departments, study groups and committees for the upcoming forum in Salvador. We expect the scientific program to be ready next month! News coming soon!
